Cabinet Nod For Russia, Indian Management For Mattala International Airport

COLOMBO (News 1st); Sri Lanka's Cabinet of Minister have given the green light to entrust the management of Mattala Rajapaksa International Airport to M/s Shaurya Aeronautics (Pvt.) Ltd from India and the Airports of Regions Management Company from Russia or its affiliated enterprises.

This management arrangement is set for a period of 30 years.

During their meeting on January 9, 2023, the Cabinet of Ministers approved the solicitation of proposals from interested parties for utilizing the facilities at Mattala Rajapaksha International Airport.

Subsequently, five institutions submitted their proposals in response to the call for Expressions Of Interest.

The Cabinet of Ministers has granted consent to the resolution put forth by the Minister of Ports, Shipping, and Aviation.

As per the recommendations of the negotiation committee appointed by the Cabinet of Ministers, the management of Mattala Rajapaksa International Airport will be entrusted to the Russian and Indian firms.
