Finance Ministry Assures Timely Release of Presidential Election Funds

COLOMBO (News 1st); Sri Lanka's Ministry of Finance has confirmed that the funds allocated for the upcoming presidential election will be disbursed as scheduled.

According to a senior official within the ministry, this year’s budget has earmarked 10 billion rupees specifically for the purpose of conducting the presidential election.

The official further clarified that the release of these funds will be contingent upon the request from the Election Commission.

The Election Commission, in turn, recently announced its plans for the official announcement of the presidential election.

According to sources, the commission will make the announcement during late-July or early August. This declaration will mark the formal commencement of the election season.

R. M. A. L Ratnayake, Chairman of the National Election Commission, affirmed that the presidential election will undoubtedly take place between September 17 and October 17.
