Bribery Case Against Keheliya To Go Ahead

COLOMBO (News 1st); Colombo Chief High Court Judge Damith Thotawatta rejected the preliminary objections filed by the defense, claiming the case filed against two defendants, including former Minister Keheliya Rambukwella cannot be continued.

In addition, the judge fixed dates for the hearing.

The case was filed in connection with the incident of using Rs. 230,000 from the State Printing Corporation for the settlement of Rambukwella's personal mobile phone bill, during his tenure as Minister of Mass Media.

The judge ordered the trial to be held on July 22.

The Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption filed the case against former Minister Keheliya Rambukwella and the former Chairman of the State Printing Corporation, Jayampathi Bandara Heenkenda.

When the case was called today, former minister Keheliya Rambukwella, who was in remand custody, was presented to court by prison officials.
