COLOMBO (News 1st); Sri Lankan police have arrested a 21-year-old resident of Sita Eliya, Kandy, near Kalupalama, Peliyagoda for his alleged involvement in the fatal shooting of a monk in Malvatuhiripitiya on January 23rd and the shooting and causing serious injury of another individual in Seedwu on November 26th.
During the arrest, officers found 5 grams and 200 milligrams of Crytal Meth in the suspect's possession.
The arrested individual was produced to the Hultsdorf Magistrate's Court and remanded until February 29th.
In a further development connected to the recent arrest of a suspect linked to violent incidents, Sri Lankan police have apprehended another individual allegedly involved in the same crimes.
Authorities detained a 36-year-old resident of the Seeduwa in the Raddalugama area.
This suspect is believed to have aided and abetted the shootings that occurred in Malvatuhiripitiya on January 23rd and Seeduwa on November 26th, mirroring the charges against the previously apprehended individual.
During the arrest, police confiscated a live hand grenade, 6 grams of ice, and a mobile phone.
Both suspects are currently under investigation.
