Sri Lanka to Utilize Fallow Paddy Fields for Diversified Agriculture

COLOMBO (News 1st); The Ministry of Agriculture says that steps will be taken to provide the fallow fields in the wet region for other agricultural activities.

Minister Mahinda Amaraweera mentioned that due to the inability to cultivate paddy, many paddy lands in the wet zone have been left unused.

Accordingly, as per this year's budget proposal, those lands will be released for other crops and animal husbandry.

The minister mentioned that steps will be taken for that from next month.

Accordingly, he stated that by submitting an application to the Agricultural Development Center in the local region, one can get the necessary approval for cultivation.
