COLOMBO (News 1st); A fire broke out in a row of shops in Mawanella town on Sunday (28) night.
Police said nearly 30 shops were destroyed by the fire.
The fire broke out in a row of clothes, plastic and fruit shops behind the bus stand in Mawanella town.
Police said the fire lasted for around an hour.
The fire was extinguished using fire engines belonging to the Mawanella Pradeshiya Sabha.
The cause of the fire has not yet been revealed.
