Court allows questioning of suspect in Beliatta shooting on detention orders

COLOMBO (News 1st); The Deindara magistrate's court has allowed the questioning of the suspect in the Beliatta murder on detention orders.

Following the questioning of the 54-year-old suspect, Hakmana police have also seized a motorcycle used by the suspects for the shooting and a van used to flee the crime scene.

The jeep in which the suspects arrived was also taken into police custody in Galle.

Police say the killings were carried out with 2 T56 firearms close to the Beliatta exit of the Southern Expressway on the 22nd of January.

Five individuals including  Saman Perera, the leader of the Ape Janabala Party were victims of the shooting.
