COLOMBO (News 1st) - The police have decided to give cash rewards to people who provide information about illegal firearms and bombs.
The police say that the Acting Inspector General of Police Deshabandu Tennakoon has issued instructions to all senior DIGs, DIGs, Divisional Officers, and Directors in this regard.
Police say that they will protect the confidentiality of the people who provide such information
A reward of 250,000 rupees will be given to those who provide information about automatic firearms including T-56, AK-47, and semi-automatic weapons including pistols.
The reward given to a person who gives information about revolver-type firearms is 150,000 rupees.
Police say that they have decided to give a reward of 50,000 rupees to anyone who gives information about a repeater-type firearm and a reward of 15,000 rupees for a foreign-made ammunition gun.
A cash reward of 25,000 rupees to anyone providing information about hand grenades manufactured over seas and 15000 rupees for locally manufactured firearms.
