More health professionals join token strike demanding allowance

COLOMBO (News 1st); Many more professionals related to the health sector, including the minor staff, will launch a token strike from Thursday (11).

They are demanding that the Rs.35,000 allowance granted to doctors, be given to them as well.

Convenor of the Health Services Trade Union Alliance Ravi Kumudesh said the trade union action will be in effect from 6 am on Thursday (11) till 8 am on Friday (12).

The token strike launched by professionals in supplementary health services is also ongoing on Thursday (11), demanding that they too should be granted this allowance.

Chairman of the Para Medical Services Front Upul Rohana says the discussion held with the Secretary to the Ministry of Health on Wednesday (10) was not successful.
