COLOMBO (News 1st); Sri Lanka's Justice Minister Dr. Wijeyadasa Rajapakshe said that an investigation will be carried out over the Easter Sunday terror attacks, with international assistance.

"It was Former Attorney General Dappula De Livera who first said that there was a conspiracy and a mastermind. That view was made public. He said this ahead of his retirement. He was tasked with finding out the root cause for this. He had the power to order the Police Chief, and other police ranks to question people, and investigate certain areas. Furthermore, he had the responsibility to steer the investigation in that direction," he told reporters in Colombo on Thursday (7), in reference to the revelations made by the former state's prosecutor over the 2019 Easter Sunday Terror Attacks.

The Justice Minister said that local authorities have already filed 42 cases, and if there is any other person or connection, the government is ready to not only probe it locally, but to investigate it with international assistance.

"We have a background report on this person called Maulana. He was linked to a politician in the East for some time, and then he went to Europe under refugee status to seek asylum. Such a statement is sufficient for him to obtain permanent residency.," he said with regard to the whistleblower in the Channel 4 program on the Easter Sunday Attacks.
