Sri Lanka Cricket World Cup Squad leaves for India

COLOMBO (News 1st); The 2023 Sri Lanka Men's Cricket World Cup squad left the island early on Wednesday (27) morning.

The 2023 ICC Cricket World Cup hosted in India is set to commence on the 5th of October.

The Sri Lanka squad captained by Dasun Shanaka, also consists of Kusal Mendis, Pathum Nissanka, Kusal Janith Perera, Dimuth Karunaratne, Charith Asalanka and Sadeera Samarawickrama.

All rounders Dhananjaya de Silva, Dunith Wellalage and Dushan Hemantha were also named in the squad while Maheesh Theekshana, Matheesha Pathirana, Kasun Rajitha and Lahiru Kumara were named as bowlers.

Chamika Karunaratne was named as a traveling reserve.

The Sri Lankan team will participate in nine matches in the initial round. 

Sri Lanka will face South Africa in their first match, on the 7th of October in Delhi.

MTV Channel (PVT) Limited which operates Sirasa TV, Shakthi TV, and TV1, is the Sri Lanka Television Rights Holder for the ICC Men's Cricket World Cup 2023, while MBC Networks (Pvt) Limited secured the radio broadcasting rights for the tournament.
