Special trade tax on imported potatoes extended by another four months

Colombo (News 1st): The special trade tax for imported potatoes has been extended by another four months, from the 8th of September.

A special commodity tax of 50 rupees per kilogram of imported potatoes was imposed with effect from March 8.

That tax was valid for six months.

The Ministry of Finance stated that it was extended for another four months with the aim of providing higher prices for local crops.
