Committee to table recommendations over procurement of medicine

COLOMBO (News 1st); A committee has been appointed to table recommendations to avoid challenges in competitive procurement of drugs and equipment.

The committee was appointed based on the recent Cabinet decision.

The five-member committee is chaired by Deputy Secretary of the Treasury A.S. Seneviratne.

The committee has also called for suggestions from the public to formulate a system to purchase medicines by following a simple and transparent procurement process.

The Ministry of Health said interested parties and trade union representatives of the health sector can submit proposals and suggestions to the committee till the 13th of September.

The proposals can be handed over to the Health Ministry or sent via email to [email protected] and [email protected].

The Health Ministry said the committee will submit a report to the Cabinet to resolve the issues related to the quality of medicines and equipment after considering all proposals.
