TNA meets Tiran for talks on 13A, Police Powers

COLOMBO (News 1st): The Tamil National Alliance lawmakers held talks with Tiran Alles, Sri Lanka's Public Security Minister, with regard to the 13th Amendment to the Constitution.

The Ministry of Public Security stated in an announcement that special attention was given to police powers. 

During the discussion, the MPs of the TNA said that the distribution of power is executed extremely well in developed countries like England and India and that there is a possibility that they can implement the same system in Sri Lanka as well. 

The Ministry of Public Security confirmed that Minister Tiran Alas pointed out the differences between the political and social cultures of England and Sri Lanka. 

The minister, responding to the statement made by the Tamil Alliance MPs that there has been an increase in the incidence of drugs and crime in the northern region, has said that the information available on such matters should be given to the special police committee appointed in this regard.
