Vesak message from President Ranil Wickremesinghe

COLOMBO (News 1st): "During these troubled times, it is imperative to rise above all differences and join together in unity and service as espoused by the Buddha." says President Ranil Wickremesinghe in his message for Vesak Poya Day. 

"This path should be guided by the four Noble States of loving-kindness, compassion, sympathetic joy, and equanimity, as upheld in the Buddhist philosophy." the President said. 

"Let us work towards a society that values the four states of mind which leads to true happiness shown in the sublime teaching of the Buddha," said Prime Minister Dinesh Gunawarndena in line with Vesak Poya Day Message. 

The Prime Minister added that Self-management taught in Buddhism can also contribute to alleviating the crisis situation we are facing today. 

"The teaching of Lord Buddha preached after realizing the absolute truth in universe proves day by day nothing but his dharma in an everlasting teaching," said Leader of the Opposition Sajith Premadasa in his Vesak Day message. 

He added that Buddhism always preaches the practical steps to be followed to develop the transcendental and advanced way of life.
