COLOMBO (News 1st); Minister of Health Keheliya Rambukwella said plans are in place to reduce the price of medicines within the next three weeks.
He said he instructed health authorities yesterday to take measures to ensure patients benefit from the strengthening of the Sri Lankan Rupee against the US dollar promptly.
He added that plans are in place to reduce the price of medicine by 10 to 15 percent.
Officials of the Price Control Unit of the National Medicines Regulatory Authority (NMRA) are scheduled to meet on Wednesday (17).
The Unit said it will analyze the data on the depreciation of the dollar and hand over a report to the Health Minister regarding the drug price revision.
