Colombo (News 1st) - Israeli fighter jets have struck several military targets in Syria, including a radar facility, military compound and artillery post, in response to rocket attacks on Israel from Syria, the Israeli government said.
Three rockets struck Israel, but caused no casualties, Israel said.
The level of violence in the region has increased in the past week, with Israeli soldiers attacking worshippers inside the Al Aqsa Mosque, followed by a barrage of rockets on Israel from Lebanon, to which Israel retaliated with airborne attacks on targets in Lebanon.
Regional and world leaders have appealed for calm and several countries such as Qatar are attempting to mediate.
