COLOMBO (News1st) - In a letter to the speaker of Parliament, Parlimentarian Rohini Kaviratne has requested that disciplinary action be taken against the Minister of Education,Susil Premajayantha for insulting her in obscene language during parliamentary proceedings.
The MP points out that the statement made by the relevant MP has made its rounds on different platforms and has affected her public image as a mother and a female.
The MP has drawn the Speaker's attention as to how the people's attitudes would be towards Parliament and the MPs due to such incidents.
Parliamentarian Rohini Kaviratne has further requested that the Speaker submit this issue to the Committee on Ethics and Privileges to take appropriate action.
