More Suspects Netted in Sri Lanka's Operation Yukthiya

COLOMBO (News 1st) - Sri Lankan authorities netted a staggering 1,467 suspects during Operation Yukthiya, a nationwide anti-crime initiative, within the past 24 hours.

The operation, aimed at curbing crime and drug abuse, has seen significant results since its launch.

Among those arrested, 164 were identified as registered offenders by the Police Narcotics Bureau and the Special Bureau, indicating a focus on tackling repeat offenders and dismantling criminal networks. 

Furthermore, 56 suspects will face further investigation under detention orders, while 51 individuals struggling with addiction have been referred to rehabilitation centers for treatment and support.
