Internal report on Dec 9 power outage in three weeks

COLOMBO (News 1st); The Ceylon Electricity Board said the report of the internal investigation committee appointed to investigate the island-wide power outage reported on the 9th of December is due in three weeks.
 
CEB Spokesman Engineer Noel Priyantha said the report is due to be handed over to the Chairman of the CEB.

Two committees were appointed to investigate the power outage, an internal investigation committee and an external investigation committee.

The internal committee is chaired by an Additional General Manager of the CEB.

It will focus on analyzing the basic facts of the power outage and the procedure followed by officers and employees related to the incident and presenting necessary measures and recommendations to prevent such outages from happening in the future.

An external investigation committee was appointed by the Ministry of Power and Energy to investigate the outage.

The CEB said a panel of experts consisting of lecturers and professors from Sri Lankan universities was appointed to the external committee.

It has focused on identifying the origin of the incident and carrying out technical investigations, reviewing the time taken to restore power, and presenting measures and recommendations to prevent or minimize such incidents in the future.
