COLOMBO (News 1st); Sri Lanka's Power and Energy Minister, Kanchana Wijesekera, has announced a freeze on all bonuses, allowances, and salary increments for employees of the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB).

This directive, effective immediately, applies to bonuses for 2023 and any outstanding from previous years, encompassing all incentive and allowance schemes currently in place.

Additionally, the 25% salary increment awarded every three years since 2015 will be discontinued.

The Minister's letter, addressed to senior CEB officials, further calls for a comprehensive report on 21 specific allowances and incentives currently paid to employees.

The report will detail the total amount disbursed in 2023, the payment schedules, and the number of vehicles rented or allocated to each official, along with associated rental costs.
