Dengue Grips Sri Lanka, 6,000+ Cases in December Alone

COLOMBO (News 1st); Sri Lanka's battle against dengue fever intensifies as the National Dengue Control Unit (NDCU) reports a staggering 82,655 cases confirmed so far this year. 

The alarming upward trend is further highlighted by the figure for December alone, which saw a record 6,167 confirmed cases.

The geographical epicenter of the outbreak remains Colombo district, with a worrying 17,423 cases recorded, constituting over 21.08% of the national total.

 The Gampaha district follows closely behind with 15,643 cases, indicating the severity of the situation in the Western Province.

Other districts with significant caseloads include Kandy, Puttalam, Kurunegala, Batticaloa, Ratnapura, and Kegalla.
