National protest movement to be launched today (27)

COLOMBO (News 1st); The State and Provincial Public Service Trade Union Collective says a national protest movement will be launched on Monday (27).

Convener Chandana Sooriyaarachchi said the protest movement is being launched demanding the government to increase the salaries of state sector employees by at least Rs.20,000 or to provide an allowance.

Sooriyaarachchi also opposed the Budget proposal to take 8 percent of the state sector employee's salary for the widow and orphan pension.
