Gammadda, today inaugurated a groundbreaking water purification system in the remote village of Ihala Kumbuk Wewa, Hambantota District.
The project, which is being carried out with the technical support of the Sri Lanka Navy, will provide much-needed clean drinking water to over 700 families in the village.
Veteran cricketer Chaminda Vaas, a towering figure in the world of cricket, a bowler of extraordinary talent and unwavering determination also attended the event to show his support. The people of Ihala Kumbuk Wewa were overjoyed with the presence of the icocnic cricketer.
The villagers of Ihala Kumbuk Wewa have been suffering from a lack of clean drinking water for the past 22 years.
This has caused a number of health problems, especially among school children and elderly people.
The new water purification system will finally put an end to this long-standing problem.
