Cabinet green lights Keeri Samba rice imports

Colombo (News 1st); The Cabinet of Ministers has given the green light to import Keeri Samba into Sri Lanka.

A Senior Minister said that this measure was taken to address the existing shortage of Keeri Samba in the country.

The Maximum Retail Price of a kilogram of Keeri Samba is Rs. 260.

At the same time, a decision was also reached at the Cabinet to take over sugar stocks currently held by the private sector, and sell them to consumers via Sathosa.
