COLOMBO (News 1st); The recommendation of the expert committee at the National Medicines Regulatory Authority (NMRA) will be made mandatory for any emergency procurement of medicines in the future, said Health Minister Dr. Ramesh Pathirana.
He said that instructions were given to limit emergency procurement to only essential instances, subject to conditions.
Accordingly, medicines will only be procured by registered suppliers.
In addition, the Health Minister said that certain suppliers do not come forward with certain medicines.
In such an instance, the relevant medicines will be procured via Indian government agencies.
