President to present 2024 Budget

COLOMBO (News 1st) - The second reading of the 2024 Appropriation Bill will be held in Parliament on Monday (13).

President Ranil Wickremesinghe in his capacity as Minister of Finance will table the Budget at 12 noon.

This is the second budget presented by him since taking office as President. 

After the President tables the Budget, the debate on the second reading of the Budget will begin on November 14. 

The debate will run for seven days, from November 14 - 21. 

The vote for the second reading of the Budget is set to take place at 05:30 pm on November 21. 

The committee stage debate will begin on November 23 and conclude on December 13. 

The vote on the third reading of the budget is scheduled to take place at 05:30 pm on December 13. 

In the meantime, heavy security will be deployed around the Parliament due to this.
