COLOMBO (News 1st); The Government Medical Officers' Association has decided to call off their provincial level strike.
GMOA Secretary Dr. Haritha Aluthge told News 1st that the Central Committee held an emergency meeting on Friday (3) and reached the decision to call off the trade union action.
He said that the provincial level strike was suspended with effect from noon on Friday (2).
The GMOA decided to step away from their duties at provincial level earlier this week citing several issues, including the unjust tax regime, and commenced the strike on Thursday (2) from the Uva Province, and thereafter spread to the Northern Province on Friday (3).
