Tree falls onto bus in Colpetty; Rescue op underway

COLOMBO (News 1st); Operations have commenced to rescue a group of people who were trapped in a Sri Lanka Transport Board bus, after a tree fell on to the bus near the Liberty Roundabout along Duplication Road, Colpetty.

Sri Lanka Police said three people trapped in the bus were rescued and admitted to the National Hospital.

Several teams of the Colombo Fire Service Department are working to rescue the trapped people.

Sri Lanka Police said Duplication Road was temporarily closed following the accident.

When inquired by News 1st an official at the National Hospital said the condition of the people admitted to the hospital is not serious.
