Diverted SriLankan flights return from India

COLOMBO (News 1st); The two SriLankan Airlines flights which were diverted to India have returned to the island.

SriLankan Airlines said the flights arrived in Sri Lanka on Monday (30) night.

Measures were taken to divert the two SriLankan Airlines flights that were scheduled to land in Katunayake, to India, due to heavy showers around the Katunayake and Mattala Airports.

Accordingly, flights UL-365 from Jakarta, Indonesia and UL-116 from Mali were diverted.

The two flights were diverted to Thiruvananthapuram Airport in India.

The Department of Meteorology predicted showers or thundershowers in most provinces of the island after 2pm.

The Met. Department predicted fairly heavy showers above 75mm in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, Southern and Uva provinces.

The Department predicted showers in the eastern province and in the Hambantota district during the morning as well.
