Production, sale and use of 10 types of plastic items banned

COLOMBO (News 1st) : Production, sale, and use of 10 types of single-use and short-lived plastic items have been banned with effect from today.

It includes single-use spoons, straws, plastic garlands, food containers, etc, Deputy Director of the Waste Management Division of the Central Environmental Authority Ajith Weerasundara said

Raids will be carried out from today to identify people who violate these regulations, Ajith Weerasundara said.
