Bullet pierces Ex-CID Chief Shani's car - CID inquiry underway

COLOMBO (News 1st) - The Criminal Investigations Department has launched an investigation into the incident where a bullet pierced the car of Former CID Chief SSP Shani Abeysekera.

The car was reportedly parked at the SSPs residence.

Sri Lanka Police said that on the 17th of December 2022 the firearm of the Police Constable assigned to provide security to the car parked at Shani Abeysekera's residence in Borella had discharged, and a bullet had pierced the car.

However, it was revealed that a bullet pierced the car, only when it was taken for repairs.

The Police Constable who was attached to the Borella Police has thus been transferred following the incident.

Sri Lanka Police said the police officer's firearm was taken into custody by the Criminal Investigations Department
