COLOMBO (News 1st) - A walk by two Aragalaya Activists that was to reach Galle Face Green on Wednesday (2) was blocked by security forces from Baladaksha Mawatha in Colombo.

"We come here with love. We do not have any stones with us. You have the baton & gun with you as if you are ready to attack terrorists," one of them told a battalion of Sri Lanka Air Force personnel who had blocked the road.

Thereafter, Supun Nirmal, a representative for the President's Secretary visited the site and met with the protestors.

"Hand over your demands to me. I will direct them to the President. Thereafter, we can proceed with whatever legal action is required," he told the protesting duo.

Before reaching Baladaksha Mawatha, the group tried to reach Galle Face Green via the Lotus Round-about. However, Sri Lanka Police did not allow them to proceed.

The protesting duo launched their march on Monday (31) from Ambepussa demanding the immediate release of the student activists who are detained under the PTA.

They launched their walk from Kelaniya on Wednesday (2) and were supported by Field Marshal Sarath Fonseka.
