COLOMBO (News 1st) - Parliament is scheduled to convene at 9.30 this morning under the patronage of Speaker of Parliament Dr. Jagath Wickramaratne.

A supplementary estimate of Rs. 4.261 Billion, allocated to the Sri Lanka Air Force, is scheduled to be debated today for approval.

The funds are expected to be used to establish an Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) system for the Air Force.

Meanwhile, Deputy Minister of Transport and Highways Prasanna Gunasena said in Parliament yesterday that measures are being taken to minimise disruptions to train services caused by a shortage of train power sets.

He made this statement in response to a question raised by Member of Parliament Dhanushka Ranganatha.

The Deputy Minister stated that locomotives and carriages which were previously repaired separately at railway depots, have now been transported as complete train sets for maintenance and repairs.

He noted that this approach would help reduce technical faults in trains.
