Over 8kg of Narcotics Seized in Thalawathugoda Raid; Suspect Linked to Overseas Drug Kingpin Arrested

COLOMBO (News 1st): A suspect has been arrested with a large consignment of narcotics during a raid conducted by the Police Special Task Force (STF) at a house in Thalawathugoda.

Police said the suspect had been operating the drug trafficking network of Dewage Thusitha Chamara, alias Wanathe Kudu Thilan, a prominent organised criminal and large-scale drug trafficker currently residing overseas.

The 32-year-old suspect had allegedly been coordinating the distribution of drug consignments belonging to Wanathe Kudu Thilan to various parts of the country.

The STF recovered five kilograms and 290 grams of crystal methamphetamine (Ice) and two kilograms and 946 grams of heroin in his possession.

Police STF said the suspect has been handed over to the Police Narcotics Bureau for further investigations.

A wider investigation is underway to identify other members of the network and trace the sources of the drug operation.
