COLOMBO (News 1st) - The National System Operator Company says there is no requirement for an electricity tariff revision for the fourth quarter of this year.

The decision is based on current reservoir water levels and forecasts of above-average rainfall despite the prevailing El Niño weather conditions.

Based on its earlier projections, the National System Operator Company had requested a 2.8% electricity tariff increase for the final quarter of this year.

However, following a preliminary review of the cost reports, the Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka (PUCSL) had indicated that a 1.4% increase would be sufficient.

Accordingly, public consultations on the proposed electricity tariff revision commenced today at the Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall (BMICH).

The PUCSL says the revised projections submitted by the National System Operator Company will also be taken into consideration during the public consultation process.
