Garage Owner Hospitalised Following Alleged Assault by UC Chairman

COLOMBO (News1st); A person was hospitalized following an alleged assault by the Chairman of the Kadugannawa Urban Council.

According to the police, the incident occurred in the Ilukwatta area of Kadugannawa following a dispute over assessment taxes. The victim has been identified as a 45 year old garage owner.

He was initially admitted to the Kadugannawa Hospital before being transferred to the Peradeniya Hospital and subsequently to the Kandy National Hospital for further treatment.

Police stated that investigations are currently underway to arrest the Chairman in connection with the incident.

Following the last local government elections, a coalition led by the Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) formed the administration of the Kadugannawa Urban Council, with Lakshitha Abeyratne being elected as Chairman.
