COLOMBO (News 1st); The Colombo Magistrate's Court today ordered that Parliamentarian Namal Rajapaksa and former Krrish Group Director Janaki Sirwardhana, who are currently in remand custody over the Krrish transaction case, be further remanded until October 23.
The case was taken up before Colombo Chief Magistrate Asanga S. Bodaragama.
The court had been expected to deliver its ruling on the suspects' bail applications today. However, Magistrate Bodaragama rejected the bail application filed on behalf of Janaki Sirwardhana.
Meanwhile, the Chief Magistrate stated that the order relating to Namal Rajapaksa's bail application had not yet been finalized and fixed October 23 to deliver the ruling. Accordingly, Rajapaksa was ordered to remain in remand custody until that date.
The case has been filed in connection with several allegations, including claims that a sum of Rs. 70 million was paid to Namal Rajapaksa as a bribe by the Krrish Group while Janaki Sirwardhana was serving as one of its directors.
