Sri Lankan Consulate General in Jeddah Urges Citizens in Saudi Arabia to Stay Vigilant Amid Emergency Advisory

COLOMBO (News 1st): The Consulate General of Sri Lanka in Jeddah has issued an urgent safety advisory to all Sri Lankan nationals residing in the Western region of Saudi Arabia, prompting citizens to stay alert following an emerging situation in the area.

In an official notice released by the consular mission, Sri Lankans have been advised to closely monitor local developments and strictly observe key safety protocols in the event of receiving National Warning Alerts on their mobile phones.

Key Safety Directives

The embassy's safety precautions for emergency warnings include:

1. Stay inside, seek a safe area away from windows.

2. Stay away from open areas, windows, glass, balconies and rooftops.

3. If you are outside, enter the nearest safe building or take cover behind a solid wall.

4. Avoid crowds, or going to dangerous areas. Do not take pictures.

5. If driving, pull over to the side of the road and stay away from bridges and high buildings.

Additionally, the Sri Lankan Consulate strongly emphasized that citizens must refrain from photographing, filming, or recording any ongoing incidents. Sri Lankan nationals are further urged not to comment on or share such footage on social media platforms, highlighting that all residents must strictly adhere to Saudi laws and regulations regarding content sharing and public order.

Authorities urged the Sri Lankan community to remain calm, avoid spreading unverified information, and rely exclusively on official announcements.
