Fairly Heavy Rains Of Up To 75mm Expected Today

COLOMBO (News1st): The Department of Meteorology forecasts fairly heavy rains of around 75 mm today in several areas within the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, and Southern provinces.

According to the forecast of the department, the low-level atmospheric disturbance is moving away from Sri Lanka. Therefore, its influence is expected to gradually decrease.

Therefore, showers or thundershowers will also occur at times at several places in Uva, Eastern and North central provinces and in Mullaittivu district after 1.00 p.m.

The Department of Meteorology urges the general public to take adequate precautions to minimize damage caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
