COLOMBO (News1st);The Coconut Cultivation Board has taken steps to launch a special subsidy program to minimize the potential impact of El Niño conditions on coconut cultivation.
Its Chairman, Dr. Sunimal Jayakody, stated that an allocation of 2,500 million rupees has been set aside for this purpose.
Meanwhile, the Chairman of the Coconut Cultivation Board also mentioned that El Niño has not affected coconut cultivation so far.
However, he added that if dry weather continues over the coming months, it could impact coconut crops.
