Iranian Fuel Tankers Anchored Outside Sri Lanka's Exclusive Economic Zone, Says Foreign Ministry

COLOMBO (News 1st) - The Ministry of Foreign Affairs says 20 Iranian fuel tankers are anchored outside Sri Lanka’s Exclusive Economic Zone.

The ministry made the statement in response to reports that the vessels had been anchored in maritime waters close to Sri Lanka.

Spokesperson to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Thushara Rodrigo said Sri Lanka has no obligation or responsibility regarding these vessels.

He added that the Sri Lankan government is closely monitoring the situation concerning the vessels.
