Heavy Showers Expected In Several Provinces; Strong Winds Warning Issued

COLOMBO (News 1st): Showers will occur at times in Sabaragamuwa province and in Kandy and Nuwara-Eliya districts. Fairly heavy falls above 50 mm are likely at some places in these areas.

Several spells of showers will occur in Western and North-western provinces and in Galle and Matara districts.

A few showers may occur in Matale, Anuradhapura and Hambantota districts.

Showers or thundershowers may occur at a few places in Uva province and in Ampara and Batticaloa districts after 2.00 p.m.

Mainly dry weather will prevail over the other areas of the island.

Strong winds of about (40-50) kmph can be expected at times over Western, Sabaragamuwa, Southern, North-central, Central and North-western provinces and in Mannar, Trincomalee and Monaragala districts.

The general public is kindly requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damage caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
