COLOMBO (News 1st); Outgoing Sri Lanka Army Commander Lieutenant General Lasantha Rodrigo has been elevated to the rank of General in recognition of his distinguished military service, leadership and contribution to the nation.
The promotion was granted by President Anura Kumara Dissanayake in his capacity as Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, according to an announcement published by the Sri Lanka Army.
The elevation marks a significant milestone in General Rodrigo's military career and places him among the senior-most officers in the history of the Sri Lanka Army. According to the Army, the promotion was awarded in recognition of his exceptional leadership, exemplary service and unwavering dedication to both the Army and the country.
The Army noted that the elevation to the rank of General reflects General Rodrigo's distinguished service record, professional excellence and commitment to upholding the traditions and operational standards of the Sri Lanka Army.
