Former DMT Officer Held Over Unauthorized Vehicle Registration

COLOMBO (News 1st); Chandra Wijesekara, a former Management Services Officer of the Department of Motor Traffic, has been arrested by officers of the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption.

The Bribery Commission stated that he was arrested in connection with an ongoing investigation into an illegal vehicle transfer at the Department of Motor Traffic.

The suspect is accused of entering data into the computer system of the Department of Motor Traffic to assign counter numbers for the registration and initial transfer of a motor vehicle that was illegally imported into the country without Sri Lanka Customs clearance and without paying customs duties.

The suspect is scheduled to be produced before the Colombo Chief Magistrate's Court.
