Seek Immediate Medical Care for Children with Fever Lasting Over 24 Hours

COLOMBO (News 1st): Health authorities are urging parents to seek immediate medical treatment for children if a fever persists for more than 24 hours. 

Director of the Lady Ridgeway Hospital for Children, Specialist Dr. Pradeep Rathnasiri, said that approximately 50 children with dengue are currently receiving treatment at the hospital. 

He added that around one quarter of them are in critical condition. 

Dr. Rathnasiri further stated that if the situation continues to worsen, issues related to hospital capacity could arise. 

Meanwhile, the National Dengue Control Unit said 61 dengue-related deaths have been reported islandwide so far.
