COLOMBO (News 1st); Rakhitha Rajapakshe, son of former Minister Wijeyadasa Rajapakshe, Samagi Jana Balawegaya Horana Electoral Organiser Charith Abeysinghe, and former Civil Aviation Director, Warushahennadige Aruna Sri Chathuranga have been further remanded until the 28th of July after being produced before the Colombo Hulftsdorp Magistrate's Court today.

The three suspects were arrested on June 25th by the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC).

According to investigators, the suspects allegedly solicited a bribe from Madushika Madhuwanthi, the wife of alleged organized crime figure Nadun Chinthaka Wickramaratne, alias "Harak Kata".

The payment was allegedly sought in exchange for influencing official action to prevent his transfer to the Boossa High Security Prison, secure the removal of his detention orders, and facilitate his transfer to another prison.

Investigators allege that an initial demand of Rs. 500 million was later reduced to Rs. 300 million of which Rs. 120 million was allegedly accepted as an advance payment.
