Court Asks CIABOC For Update On Kapila Chandrasena Case

COLOMBO (News 1st); The Colombo Chief Magistrate's Court has directed the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC) to report on the progress of investigations in the case filed against former SriLankan Airlines Chief Executive Officer Kapila Chandrasena on October 13.

The order was issued today by Colombo Chief Magistrate Asanga S. Bodaragama when the relevant case was taken up before court.

Appearing before the court, investigating officers informed the Magistrate that a further report on the investigative steps carried out in relation to the matter would be submitted to the court.

Meanwhile, Attorney-at-Law Harshana Mathararachchi, appearing on behalf of Priyanka Nayomali, who has been named as a suspect in the case, told the court that the issuance of a Red Notice against his client could not be accepted, as she is currently residing in a foreign country.

After considering the submissions made before court, Chief Magistrate Bodaragama ordered the Bribery Commission to report the further progress of the investigation when the case is next called on October 13.
