All Liquor Shops To Be Closed For Poson For 3 Days From Today

COLOMBO (News 1st) - The Department of Excise says all liquor shops across the country will be closed from today (28) until the 30th of this month in view of Poson Poya.

The department further stated that all liquor outlets located within the Divisional Secretariats of Mihintale, Medawachchiya, North Central Province, and Mahawilachchiya areas will remain closed until the 2nd of next month.

These measures have been implemented in line with “Poson Week,” declared in connection with the state Poson celebrations.

The Department of Excise also announced that complaints regarding violations can be reported 24 hours a day via the hotline 1913 to its operations centre.

It further warned that strict legal action will be taken against licence holders who violate the directive, with instructions already issued to all Excise officers to enforce compliance.
