COLOMBO (News 1st) - Police say security has been beefed up at the National Hospital in Colombo and surrounding areas following the admission of Retired Major General Suresh Salley on medical advice.
Police Spokesperson, Assistant Superintendent of Police F. U. Wootler, stated that officers from the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) and the Special Task Force (STF) have been deployed for heightened security.
Former State Intelligence Service Chief Retired Major General Suresh Salley is currently receiving treatment at the National Hospital in Colombo after being admitted on medical advice.
Salley was arrested by the CID on February 25, 2026 for his alleged involvement in the Easter Sunday Terror attacks.
He is currently being held under detention orders.
Relatives of Suresh Salley stated that he has launched a fast-unto-death, demanding the repeal of the Prevention of Terrorism Act (PTA) among other requests.
